Thomas "Peg Leg" Ward in Austin, second commissioner of the General Land Office, came to Texas in 1835 to fight in the revolution, but in first day of action, lost his right leg, fold, Fine to Very Fine. 3 time mayor of Austin and U.S. consul to Panama.
