Fort Snelling, Sept 15, 1835 on 25 rated folded letter, headed Mackinac Augt. 17th 1835, to Mr. George Johnston, St. Peters, Upper Mississippi, then forwarded to Sault Ste. Mary (Marie), Michigan Territory, 1 page letter of Wm. Johnston to his brother, in part "I have just received per the steamboat Monrog a letter - I will probably go to Chippewa River, there is some talk of asking the Ottawas to sell their lands", letter was 6 months in transit, received Feb 4, 1836 (docketed on reverse), very rare piece, Fine to Very Fine.
