U.S.; General Issue Covers, 1862, From the USS Hatteras, New Orleans Dec 13, 1862 c.d.s. in blue along with "SHIP" and "5" in circle cancels, late usage from this Union vessel, light soiling, Fine. The Hatteras was assigned to the blockade of the Gulf of Mexico, on 11 January 1863 while off Galveston, TX she engaged the Confederate cruiser Alabama and was sunk.
