Great Britain, Pre-Stamp and Penny Black Framed Cover Items, SG #2.
Consisting of 12 mostly rare items beautifully mounted in frame, consists from top left to bottom right the following; 1827 stampless Lord Somerset (later Lord Raglan); opened for view 1840 from N.Y. to Southampton where 1840 1d black affixed and forwarded by Gilpin's Exchange; 1833 stampless from Duke of Wellington (some condition issues); 1838 stampless straightline Twickenham with TO PAY additional franking; 1d Mulready envelope to Boxgrove; 1839 stampless from Archbishop of Canterbury to Dublin; Leech comic used 1900 registered with Belgium adhesive 50c; Spooner comic to Dublin (no franking on front); another Leech comic 1840 usage (some condition issues); another Spooner usage to same addressee in Dublin (no frankings on front); Irish comic (no frankings on front); and a third Spooner cover to same addressee in Dublin, it is difficult to say whether any of these are fronts without removing the items from the frame which the owner does not want so the lot is sold "as is", lovely Fine appearance most covers are quite rare and desirable, a very interesting group.
