U.S., Freeman & Co. (1850-1851): Sacramento to San Francisco, small double oval red h.s., the first Freeman marking, on March 1851 folded letter headed Sacramento City, "Paid 1.00" in m.s., slight aging at right of cover and two vertical file folds, one across h.s., but neither severe, his first marking exists both black and red and this clear strike shows a rectangle with rounded sides within the h.s., Fine to Very Fine. Freeman bought out Hawley in November 1850 and sold out his first express to Adams in November 1851.
