Stamp Lost" hs. and violet hs. regarding this item being recovered from the wreck, forwarded to addressee in U.S., New York transit and Springfield, IL receiving cancels on reverse, article on the ship, reprinted photos of the ship and captain incl., nice maritime piece, Fine. The "Elbe" sunk in the North Sea after colliding with British steamer Crathie on January 30, 1895.
