Korea; Empire Covers and Used Postal Stationery, 1906 (Jan. 20) Picture Postcard Sent Via Japan and U.S. to French Guadeloupe, #20B, franked with two Korea 2 chon perf 11 singles, tied by purple Japanese PO "Chemulpo IJPO" postmark, violet "Kobe" transit (Jan. 23) and U.S. "Tacoma Wash." Duplex (Feb. 14), handwritten message in French on reverse, rare usage of Korean stamps from Japanese P.O. and Chemulpo postmark's configuration seems to correspond to the mysterious 'Chemulpo I.J.P.O' marking illustrated and described on page 52 of ISJP's 1979 publication 'The Roman Letter Postmarks of Japan' by Bishop. An example of this postmark is illustrated in Mizuhara's 1993 'Korean Postal History' (page 195). In any case, probably unique usage to Guadeloupe . Estimate $1,000-1,500.
