U.S.; General Issue Covers, 1857, 10¢ Type II (Pair), Type III (Strip of 4) to Vera Cruz, pair of type II (pos. 14-15R1) to the left, strip of 4 (pos. 24-27R1, right copy clipped perfs.) tied to folded letter by New Orleans 10/15/1857 c.d.s., "7", h.s. in black (7 reales Postage Due), oval agent h.s. in black, in the 1850's the U.S. had no postal treaty with Mexico, it is believed that the bulk of the mail from the eastern U.S. to Mexico was sent via New Orleans by steamship to Vera Cruz, very scarce piece, Fine to Very Fine.
