A similar cover (different enclosure and in poorer condition) brought over $2600 in a Siegel auction in 2003.

U.S., General Issues, 1861, 3¢ on Leominster "Missent & Forwarded" Label Cover, #65, Circa 1860's with 3¢ tied by Harpers Ferry VA cds to Leominster where orange label was applied, slight toning at left and on reverse, otherwise sound, scarce. From the mid-1850s to the early 1860s, this Massachusetts Postmaster utilized a number of labels with instructional marks, based entirely on personal whim rather than any P.O. regulation, though today postal historians recognize these provisional labels as important and unique forerunners of the practice of postage due labels.
