U.S. Stampless Covers, 1827 (?) Mail Route Marking Addressed to "President", from New Orleans to New York (by ship) then to Washington, to "The President of the U. States" with red arced "Mail Route," red New York cds and ms. F (free), from 1827-30, the 100 miles of river from New Orleans and La Balizee was considered a post road and added to the inland distance to the East coast, mail to New York was charged 14½¢ rather than 6¢ ship letter, Very Fine, possibly only free frank known with this marking . Estimate $250-350.
