Aerophilately; Rocket Flights, 1958 Point Mugu, Calif., Ellington-Zwisler #22C1, Sep. 16 flown from USS Grayback (SSG-574) at sea with Port Hueneme, California, cancellation after landing at Point Mugu Naval Base, believed to be the first flown U.S. Government missile mail., precedes USS Barbero flown missile mail flight of June 8, 1959 by ten months, letter is signed on U.S. Naval Air Missile Test Center letterhead by U.S. Naval Air Missile Test Center Commander, Rear Admiral J. P. Monroe, U.S. Navy, September 16, 1958, date flown, hand cancel was made for the cover on the wing of the Regulus II missile after its flight by Port Hueneme Postmaster Arthur Haycox., light but readable, 2 small tone spots, extremely rare, otherwise Fine to Very Fine. Covers were given to VIPs and invited Boy Scouts to the event, but only a few of the 55 flown covers have survived to the present time., with letter to Regulus II program manager attending event, Commander H. E. Van Ness, verifying that cover was flown .
