Confederacy, 1863 letter. From Auburn, VA, October 18th 1863, from the caretaker of a wounded and later deceased soldier to his wife in North Carolina, the letter talks about the care he received saying "the army was moving on very rapidly, there was no surgeon left", the envelope is a poor condition turned envelope (appears to be a forage requisition army form) with a faint unreadable marking on the reverse, Average to Fine.
