Canadian Provinces: Newfoundland, 1860, 1/- Orange, #15, large margins all around, lozenge grid cancel of 49 dots (7 by 7), rhombus cancel used in ST.PIERRE ET MIQUELON from 1860 to 1864, a Superb example of a very scarce stamp. Circumstances that this stamp was canceled in St. Pierre are unclear but given the proximity and extensive commercial relations between the two Colonies, the possibility of unusual usages arises", realized hammer $8500 in our 2009 auction. 2009 Sismondo cert.
