Civil War Postal History Collections, Union Letters of Private Erastus H. Darrow, 1st Wisconsin Calvary, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry, series of some 30 letters and covers traces the fortunes of a fascinating man, giving first-hand accounts of many actions, describes major battles and actions incl. Battle of New Hope Church, the capture of 2 Confederate vessels, and experience during Gen. Sherman's action in Atlanta, the march to the sea, and the taking of Savannah, 5 or 6 letters have been transcribed, the 31 covers incl. Patriotics in poor condition, mostly written in pen and quite legible, Fine lot a new correspondence, never been offered on the open market. Darrow gained a degree of infamy in later life by murdering his daughter-in-law and subsequently killing himself. Some research included.

Civil War Postal History Collections, Union Correspondence of Private E.C. Beecher, 1862 to 1865, approx. 88 letters (40 corresponding envelopes) and diary (for 1865), from Private Beecher in Company H, 112th NY Volunteers; entered the Army on Sept. 11, 1862, for first 18 months he served under John A. Dix and assisted in building forts near Suffolk, VA, next he went to Polly Island (in Charleston harbor) under Q.A. Gillmore, he then did garrison duty at Jacksonville, FL for 6 months and then with General Butler went up the York river to Ft. Darling and later to Cold Harbor, VA, where he was wounded and then confined to the hospital until March 1865, when he was honorably discharged; letters are mostly written to home, some highlights incl. "in camp preparing for spring '64 campaign to begin, troops reviewed by General Butler", "in contact with the Rebs" (describes death of regimental commander and skirmishing with Rebels), "now with the Army of the Potomac" (describes evacuation to City Point), also references Lincoln's inauguration and Mary Lincoln, the key letter describes his participation in the battle of Cold Harbor and wounding, letter mentioning that John W. Booth was shot, wanted to see him hang, finally in May 1865 talks about returning prisoners from Andersonville and mentions the Sultana disaster, wonderful historical accounts, mixed condition. A new correspondence, never been offered on the open market.
