Cuba, 1899, 1c-10c Surcharges Complete, Exhibit Collection, #221-226, etc., consisting of mint incl. blocks of 4, used, and 39 covers, incl. employee order No. 1 for the 2½c with ms. note from Rathbone, complete mint with Dues and #E1, #222A, 226 used with "Cuba" at bottom, 225 two copies mint in separate blocks of 4, E1Sa (damaged), adhesives showing displaced overprints, also 1899, 1c on 1¢ yellow green (221), with #222, 224-26, E1 tied by "Guanabacoa Ysla de Cuba 24 Juo" c.d.s. on registered cover to Brussels, Belgium, violet Guanabacoa, Havana registry postmarked, June 25, and similar magenta Havana marking on reverse the same day, Paris entry datestamp, July 10, and Brussels backstamp the same day (buyer paid $4675 in Bennett 2004 auction), Fine and scarce usage from a small Havana branch office during military occupation, many with Postage Dues, excellent lot, the best we have ever handled for this issue, Fine to Very Fine overall. Part of the Garcia exhibit collection (see Cuba listings) titled "American Administration Overprints".
