United States, James Buchanan Exhibit, Historical Letters, 1840 William Henry Harrison Campaign, folded letter, Harrisburg/Pa. CDS, frank of R. Carothers, HR (Pennsylvania), datelined Feb. 8, 1840, shortly after Harrison was nominated in Harrisburg, good political content:…"Harrisonism appears to be gaining in all parts of the Union & particularly in our own state. There is great reason to believe that he will take the vote of the Keystone State. There is a project now on foot of establishing a new paper in this place…We had a meeting on the subject., a Mr. Greely of New York is spoken of as the editor. He is spoken of as a very superior man for that station…The loco focos are in a terrible dilemma. If they go for immediate resumption, the will destroy the Country as a large portion of the people are indebted to the Banks", also much content about the legislative session, small separations, toning on address panel, Fine.
