Housatonic Cover, #65, 3¢ pair, tied by New York, Apr 6, 1863 cds with fancy cancel, from Joseph Congdon to his wife; roughly opened at left but repaired, a Fine cover. Congdon served on the Housatonic which was the first ship to be ever sunk by a submarine with happened during the Civil War. Estimate $100-150.
