U.S.; General Issues, 1898, $1 on Twice Remailed 1931 Zeppelin Flight, #292, adhesives complete to $1 with $1 fine, 1¢, 8¢ s.e. copies, on twice remailed Zeppelin flight on Postal Stationery 4¢ Lincoln #10 envelope (Scott U371); began its journey with an on board cancel on Graf Zeppelin for 1931 3rd South America flight (Sieger #133); upon arrival in Pernambuco sent by surface to New York via Rio de Janeiro, upon receipt in New York, it was registered and franked with short set of the Trans-Mississippi incl. the $1 (Scott #285-292) and sent to Switzerland; it has all the appropriate markings except for a Switzerland arrival, cover has a couple of wrinkles, a nick in the right side, and a light vert. fold not affecting the three multi-franking country adhesives.
Scott $4,500 +. A very exciting usage and an important item for both the Zeppelin and 1898 Trans-Mississippi Issue exhibitor .
