Worldwide Covers, World War II Censored, 1940-1945 Range of more than 40 covers from various countries with wide variety of censorship tapes and markings, mostly sent to Emanuel Weinberg in Istanbul, Turkey, Weinberg is believed to have been one of about 1,000 German intellectuals (mostly Jewish) who emigrated to Turkey in the early 1930s at the invitation of the recently formed Turkish Republic to help modernize the fledgling nation's universities, health care and legal systems, by doing so, many of these individuals were saved from the Holocaust after the war, several of them such as Ernst Reuter and Alexander Rustow returned to Germany and helped rebuild it, generally Fine.
