States" with red arced "Mail Route," red New York cds and ms. F (free), from 1827-30, the 100 miles of river from New Orleans and La Balizee was considered a post road and added to the inland distance to the East coast, mail to New York was charged 14½¢ rather than 6¢ ship letter, Very Fine, possibly only free frank known with this marking . Estimate $250-350.
